CSA/Veggie Share Program

The NewLeaf CEA Approach

We believe that we can best serve our local community by offering, same-day fresh, local produce, year round, in the form of a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) or vegetable share program.

A CSA is a partnership between the farmer and the CSA member. We commit to provide you with a weekly delivery of the fresh, local produce we grow, and in return you support us through any ups and downs of the growing season. Shares are purchased in advance, allowing us to cover the upfront costs of planting and growing produce.

NewLeaf CEA is in a unique position to extend the CSA model beyond the typical Ontario growing season. By growing indoors we are not affected by climate. That means that you get to enjoy local produce in the "off-season", when it would be largely unavailable.

Imagine: Tomatoes fresh from the field in February.

We will be offering two share sizes for the 2018 - 2019 season. Full Shares will contain 8-10 items and will be suitable for a veggie-loving couple or a family of four. Half Shares will contain 4-5 items and will be suitable for a veggie-loving single or a couple.

Shares will be composed of a variety of fruits & vegetables, greens, and herbs like: tomatoes, peas, beans, cucumbers, eggplant, zucchini, bell peppers, chilies, pak choi, kale, radish, spinach, lettuce, swiss chard, parsley, basil, cilantro, rosemary, thyme, strawberries, melon, and many others.

Your share will be delivered right to your door, on Thursdays between 6pm and 9pm.

What if I'm not home to receive my delivery?

Please let us know in advance If you will not be home during the delivery window, so we can make alternate arrangements.

What happens to my share when I go on vacation?

Since we use a CSA model, we plant based on the number of share members we have. Each week, we harvest what is ready and divide it amongst those members. As such, we are unable to defer shares. If you are going to be away, we recommend letting us know in advance, so we can make alternate arrangements.

What if I don't like a certain veggie?

Prior to the beginning of each season, we will email you a form where you will be able to let us know about anything you don't want to receive in your share.

Where do you deliver?

We deliver within a 30km radius of our farm to provide you with the freshest, most nutritious produce we can.

Our farm is located in Cambridge, Ontario, allowing us to serve Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph and surrounding communities. Please contact us if you are unsure if you fall within our delivery area.

Is there an extra cost for delivery?

The cost of delivery is built into the share price.

What exactly is a share?

A CSA share is not a share in the company, but rather a share in the harvest and in the inherent ups and downs of farming. It is a partnership between the farmer and the CSA member.
